How to express yourself?
Expressing yourself could be sometime the most difficult task to do. You may know what or how you are feeling. But the constructive way to tell the same is missing.
It’s not easy often but easy otherwise. If you know the methods.
The easy comes when you can symbolize your feel with an accurate word or could refer to something as close to your condition.
Most artists do so. Even I do so.
So if I break the process into 3 simple steps then it could go as follow:
1. Know what you have with you- the problem.
By what you have with you, I mean what you are feeling.
Remember when you got a knock on your toe while walking on the road. Your toe started paining.
You exactly knew that this body part of mine is paining. And you go to the doctor and say to him or her about it.
‘hi doctor my toe is paining. I just got it hurt.’
Imagine if you didn’t learn the word toe, pain, hurt or any word related to it in your kindergarten or in your society. How would have you been able to express yourself then?
In general if I would say, by simply pointing your hand finger towards your foot toe with some gesture of pain.
That’s the problem you have now. Or worst. You may not be able to express the pain through gestures as well. Like an infant.
An infant cry all night in her mama’s hands but could tell what is he going through. That could be also a condition of yours.
So I say. Know your actual problem. The words to say it.
2. Build the narrative around it. — Story
Remember in point 1, you went to the doctor. Did you also told that you were walking on road and suddenly a rock came in front of you and couldn’t response in time so your toe got hurt?
Did he also asked? How you fell? did you hurt some other body part? Were you focused or you are most not focused on road.
These all questions create the story around our problem. It’s important as well as not. It may not help doctor or you to tell the impact of pain but could help in future to stop you to be alert of similar situation in future.
So build a story around it.
3. Narrate it in your style- Your art form
Now comes the narrating of the same through your words. If you speak well then speak the same. If you’re a writer, then pen it down. Painters paint it down and poets fill it with rhyming words.
Just know what you are comfortable in and simply narrate it.
